Find Calm in Nature

If you feel stuck in an office or overwhelmed by daily life, stepping outside for therapy can be a powerful way to reconnect with yourself.

Outdoor therapy, or ‘walk and talk’ counselling, combines the benefits of movement, fresh air, and a natural setting with the supportive space of therapy.

The Benefits of Outdoor Therapy

  • A Relaxed Environment – Being outside can help you feel less pressured and more at ease.

  • The Power of Movement – Walking can reduce anxiety and improve mood, making it easier to process emotions.

  • Connection with Nature – Being outdoors has been shown to lower stress and enhance well-being.

  • Flexible and Adaptive – Whether you prefer gentle strolls or more energising walks, we tailor the session to your needs.

  • Health Benefits - Walking releases endorphins, can lower blood pressure and improve heart health

How It Works

Instead of sitting in a traditional counselling room, we walk side by side in a peaceful outdoor environment. The gentle rhythm of walking can help ease tension, allowing thoughts and feelings to flow more freely.

Whether we are walking around Steart Marsh, on a coastal path or a woodland trail, nature provides a grounding and soothing backdrop for reflection and conversation.

The pace is set by you; one week you might want to walk and really get moving, another week you might prefer to sit somewhere quiet and reflect.

Who is Walk and Talk Therapy For?

This approach can be helpful if you:

  • Feel stuck in your thoughts and find movement helps you think more clearly.

  • Prefer a more natural and less formal therapy setting.

  • Want to combine physical and emotional well-being.

  • Struggle with social anxiety and feel more comfortable walking side by side rather than sitting face to face.

What to Expect:

For our first session, we’ll meet in person in my counselling room in Combwich or online using Google Meet. We’ll discuss your needs and preferences to ensure outdoor therapy is the right fit for you.

Sessions take place in a safe, mutually agreed location, and we go at your pace. You don’t need to be an experienced walker—just wear comfortable clothing and shoes suited to the environment.

What About the Weather?

Unless there’s a weather warning, our sessions will go ahead. If you’re happy to walk in the rain, we will. If you'd prefer to stay dry, we can move the session indoors or online.  Whatever feels right for you on the day.
